Chrysler, natural gas cars for sale

By 2017, Chrysler cars have on U.S. roads powered by compressed natural gas. In other parts of the world, these vehicles are already on the road.

Ask anyone to name an alternative fuel, and natural gas is often the first comes to mind. Ethanol, perhaps, and more power. But natural gas? Not so much.

In other parts of the world, are still more than 2 percent of the vehicles on the road of natural gas, fueled in countries such as Brazil, India and Iran.

Analysts have Fiat with Chrysler soon to be owner successfully sell natural gas vehicles (NGVs) in Europe and South America proposed that Chrysler would develop and sell natural gas-powered cars and trucks as an element of the green strategy.

Not until 2017

Now, the company confirmed it. Bob Lee, Chrysler's Vice President for engines and electrified propulsion systems, said Monday that "The technology is very actively worked."

He said, however, that the company of NGVs would get "up to 2017," which disappoint the hope that it would join Chrysler Honda on natural gas drives in the near future.

Honda is the only producer of natural gas-powered cars in the United States, selling around 2,000 civic GX model every year offer.

The company recently said it would sell its civic model of natural gas in all 50 States if the civic is a line for 2012 redesigned. General Motors is also exploring the addition of natural gas-powered engines to its line of V-8 engined RAM pickups.

Changed when trucks were RAM, to natural gas, run it probably first fleet customers are offered would be more willing to installieren-- or have - engines offer Central fueling facilities for CNG.

Fleet buyers are more on the total cost of vehicle ownership, and therefore ready, more front, fueling matched to win to pay costs of the truck life. It is much less per mile natural gas as a fuel on vehicles operation (as for electricity, as well as).

TRUCK can be also easier to convert conventional cars, because of the compressed fuel cylinder in the bed can be found, or perhaps two smaller cylinders between the frame can be found under the bed rails. More closely packed often lose cars to load a large portion of their trunk or room with the fuel cylinder.

Home-grown fuel

Russia overtook the United States two years ago to become the largest single natural gas producer in the world. It uses most of the fuel for home heating and power generation; for vehicle refuelling, infrastructure remains a major challenge.

While more than 100,000 NGVs today on U.S. streets run, most of them are fueled to private fleet facilities.

There are only 1,300 public natural gas fueling facilities in the United State-less than 1 percent of the 150,000 gasoline stations in operation.

Pakistan, which has fueled more than 2 million of them, more than 3,000 in the train stations is the country where NGVs are the most popular.

In Brazil since the Fiat Siena Tetrafuel on sale 2007. It may be on gasoline, ethanol or any combination of the two, and drivers can turn it to natural gas in separate tanks in the trunk and run stored.

Two years ago, Iran was Khodro--the country's largest automaker-a 150-HP Soren ELX version of his Samand sedan, which it says is the "world's most powerful CNG car."

Why Iran, where gasoline costs just 15 cents per gallon? Natural gas is so cheap, that Iran Khodro has sold half a million CNG cars for two years, representing approximately a quarter of the total production.
