Each test strip white an oil change all few thousand miles of routine to extend the life of the engine in your car or truck is. But do so an estimated 8 billion gallons of motor oil produced. Although some of them can in new oil re-refined or in furnaces for heat, the waste oil is thrown away often simply.
In a nod to practitioners better environmental maintenance announced researchers at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom before recent development of a process, the microwave to more thoroughly covered waste used crankcase oil in vehicle fuel.
BLOG: New tech could revolutionize recycling
"Conversion used motor oil in gasoline can solve two problems at once," said study leader Howard Chase, Professor of biochemical engineering at the University of Cambridge. "It provides a new use for a waste material, which all too often incorrectly disposed is damage to the environment." "In addition it provides an additional source of fuel for a current need world."

Already exists using the pyrolysis is for the recycling of oil, which is high temperature in the absence of oxygen by heating. Pyrolysis breaks the oil in a mixture of gases, liquids and solids. The gases and liquids can fuel in gasoline or diesel, although not very easily be converted. Current methods of pyrolysis unevenly, heat the oil, causing the fuel conversion be too difficult and inefficient.
In their new method of pyrolysis of research samples of waste oils in combination with a high microwave absorbent material and then the mixture with microwave heating. This new, more efficient process converts waste oil in quantity of usable fuel consume nearly 90 percent of the sample.

"Our results show that a process, the microwave shows heated exceptional promise as a means for the recycling problematic waste oils for use as fuel," said Chase and Lam. "The recovery of valuable oils with this process shows advantage over conventional processes for oil recycling and proposes excellent potential for the scale of the process of the level of trade."
