UPDATE (2 P.m. ET): Shuttle Atlantis remain in Florida, endeavour is promised, the California Science Center in Los Angeles, discovery is at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum and go enterprise, the prototype, to New York City Intrepid Sea, air & Space Museum.
"Take to our vehicles." "They served the nation well and we at NASA have a deep and lasting relationship and love affair with them which is difficult in words, set", NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden said.
From a NASA press release:
"We want to thank all of the sites, have an interest in one of these national treasures expressed," Bolden said in a statement.
"It was a very difficult decision, but one that was released with the Americans in the spirit." At the end, these decisions provide the largest number of people with the best opportunity to share in the history and the achievements of the programme of NASA's remarkable space shuttle. "These facilities, we have chosen have a remarkable heritage artifacts to preserve space and for the excellent connection to U.S. and international visitors."
NASA also announced that hundreds of shuttle are associated with artifacts, museums and educational institutions.
-Various shuttle simulators for the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville, Oregon/United States, and Texas A & M of air and space engineering department.
-Full body trainer for the Museum of flight in Seattle.
-Nase Cap Assembly and crew compartment coach for the National Museum of the United States air force at Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio.
Possible pilot and Commander seats for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston's.

ORIGINAL: NASA's chief Charlie Bolden are known at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday to give, where the space shuttles will spend their retirement.
The 30-year-old shuttle program ends to two last flights this summer a Hubble class to deliver Science instrument, known as the Alpha magnetic spectrometer, and a year's worth of supplies to the international space station. Though uncertainties have kept moving forward with a follow-on program NASA budget, remains the shutdown of the shuttle on the right track.

Competition for a former spaceship House has been very interested in. I'm not a player, but Kennedy Space Center visitors center is an obvious Pick request. Why else would Bolden make his announcement here?
The leader of the fleet, discovery, which is promised to present the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the plans complete, his last space in the last month, the ship at its Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. On the other hand, the Smithsonian company is called abandon his shuttle prototype.
The only real question is, who gets the third shuttle and who the consolation prize, Enterprise? NASA says that 21 institutions submitted proposals. NASA's human space flight include the visitors center at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, hub; New York's intrepid sea, air and Space Museum; The Museum of flight in Seattle; and the National Museum of the United States air force, outside of Dayton, Ohio.
Bolden, a former astronaut, says the decision is his alone, so it will be interesting to know the reasoning behind his selection. Obviously, Houston has the strongest band to the program along with Kennedy Space Center in Florida. New York has the tourist numbers. And well, let's just say Ohio, they have policies in their favour. Not just game-aesthetic Decree Obama budget request $14 million to the the air force the shuttle $28 pay millions travel fee, is Ohio are looking for, how it will be a critical swing state in the election of 2012, which is of obvious interest Bolden's boss IstPr?sident Obama.
Not that anyone asked me, but I'm more curious on where NASA sees his future, instead of how and where people can revel in his past. An announcement was expected last week to help businesses in the NASA, commercial spaceships develop get financing. When will we know? "Announcement is TBD," NASA says.
