Aqua detected two large fires in the South-eastern Georgia on the 25 March 2011 burn the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) of the NASA satellite. The fires are set out in red and produce dense clouds of smoke.
U.S. forest service identified the fires as the Sessom community fire and the elm Church Road fire. Included at least 11 large fires burn in Georgia on 25. The elm Church Road fire 2,000 hectares on 24 March, burned threatens the city Cogdell, Georgia Forestry Commission said. The fire was clearly on the next day, when this picture was taken. Georgia Governor declared a State of emergency in the County, where two large fires were burning.
Although it is not known how the fire began, said the Georgia Forestry Commission, dry conditions and strong winds to the fires contributed.
