Large fires in North Mexico

The moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite detected two large fires burning 2011. individual hotspots along the fires are Perimetern in the mountains of North Mexico on 3 April in red described. The fires are in the Cordillera del Burro, a sparsely populated mountain range in the State of Coahuila, close to the border with Texas.

The top image shows the fires in photo-like color. Weak plumes of smoke smoke rise from the fire. The freshly burned land is similar in color to the surrounding desert landscape. This picture was taken at 12:25 am local time. As the day progressed, image grew intense, production of dense smoke in a fire partly cloudy later in the day.

The image below was made of the same data and in addition with infra-red light. In this treatment, brick red is new burnt country. Plant covered land is green and bare earth is tan. The hot fire light orange in the infrared light.

The image below shows that the two fires are great. It had been burning for a few days before this picture was taken, and burning a large part of the country, over at least 20 kilometres (12 miles) North-South in any case.
